IIT Madras 2026 : In a major boost to interdisciplinary studies, IIT Madras has officially inaugurated the Centre for Advanced Research on Spirituality, Science, and Society (CARSSS). This pioneering hub is designed to bridge the gap between rigorous scientific inquiry and ancient spiritual wisdom, marking a new era for the premier engineering institute.
The establishment of the centre is supported by a significant Rs. 5 crore donation from Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj, a distinguished 1967-batch alumnus and head of the Science of Spirituality (Sawan Kirpal Ruhani Mission). As a world-renowned spiritual leader and an electrical engineer by training, Maharaj’s vision is to apply scientific precision to the study of meditation and consciousness.
IIT Madras CARSSS 2026: Key Objectives
The centre will act as a multi-faculty platform, integrating Engineering, Medicine, and Humanities. Key research pillars include:
